Review: I'll start this of with complete honesty, I really did not think that I was going to enjoy a book about aliens. I had purchased this book a little while back and it was just sitting on my bookshelf. I had heard so many good things about this book which is why I had picked it up, and after reading it, turns out that aliens are definitely my thing. Especially when they're named Daemon.
There is absolutely something about Daemon's arrogance, and the fact that knows he's good looking, that just make him that much more attractive. There were times when I found myself really wanting to switch places with Katy. I would not have minded bickering with Daemon at all! Katy is actually a really likable main character. I really enjoyed being able to discover the world from her point-of-view, and it was very enjoyable and entertaining to see through Katy's eyes.
And Daemon...it is hard trying to find the right words to say to describe him. The moment that you meet him, you know that there is going to be that level of arrogance and sarcasm, but it is one of the reasons that I really enjoyed his character. It was really refreshing as well to witness his interactions with Katy and to see just exactly how much her cares for her and how strongly he feels about her.
With this being said, all of the characters is this book were awesome, and they were really well developed. As a reader you become completely immersed in these characters lives and you never want to leave! I absolutely loved setting of this book, that at times, it really felt as though I was right there in the story right along side the characters. This story completely captivated me and I had this book finished in almost no time at all! There was just the right amount of drama, suspense and action. This book absolutely has it all!
If you are a bit hesitant about reading a book about aliens, don't be. This book was nothing that I was imaging it to be. It was so much better and so completely captivating. If you have not read this book, then you absolutely must check it out!

Review: Its taken me a really long time to get this review out. It had taken me a really long time to actually get around to purchasing the book, and then actually reading the book. When I finally got around to it, I absolutely loved it!
The story follows Anna, who is an average American teenager who has been shipped off to a boarding school in Paris. I found Anna to be a very relatable character, and I think that has something to do with why I enjoyed her as much as I did.
In terms of characters, I absolutely enjoyed all of them, especially Etienne. The English accent definitely helps, and makes him out to be that much more attractive. Of course he is also clever, witty, and smart. I think the other reason that I fell in love with him because he was actually a good guy love interest. I wish there were more male characters like St.Clair! One of the things that I enjoyed so much about Etienne, was the chemistry that he had with Anna.
The setting was also a wonderful part of this book. Of course, I really enjoyed the romance, but the setting is what really did it for me. Perkins has done such a wonderful job at recreating Paris, and explaining details that I actually thought I was there. Although I have never been Paris, I now have a better understanding of what it must be like. It was also refreshing to read a book that has a completely different setting, I have not read many books that have been set in Paris.
I immensely enjoyed Perkins' style of writing. Her writing style made this book such a witty, and fun read. This book was so well paced, it just kept me reading and wanting more. When I started to read this book, I was in a bit of a reading slump and this is what pulled me out of it.
Overall, this was such a fantastic read, and I highly recommend it! I'm looking forward to getting around to Lola and the Boy Next Door.

Updated
Hey Everyone!
I wish I could have kept my last promise and say that I will be around a lot more. The truth is, right now is my last full week of school for the semester, so I'm sure you all know what that means. Final assignments and then exams.
Apart from all of the reading that I've been doing for school, I've not been able to do much reading of my choice. Granted I survive this next week and a half, the reviews will start coming, and I do hope to spend a lot more time with this blog :)

Review: I had been wanting to read this novel for quite some time, but at the same time I was a little bit hesitant because I didn't think that I was going to enjoy it. I had also not read a novel before about cyborgs, which is initially why I thought I wasn't going to like it. I had only read about a chapter or so, and I was finding it a little bit difficult to get into. When it comes to reading, I'm a bit stubborn sometimes and I really don't like to leave books unfinished, and boy am I glad that I kept pushing through this one. I absolutely loved it!
The whole idea of this story and the world that was created was wonderful and this modern retelling of Cinderella was quite enjoyable. The setting was great. Meyer spared no detail when describing New Beijing, which as it turns out is a really complex city. I also really enjoyed the way she had a majority of countries and continents to all be in an alliance, which has come together after a war. I think my favourite though would be the civilization that was she created on the Moon. .
The only issue that I had with this book, and it really wasn't a big one, was that I found some of the novel's twists were a bit too predictable it terms the secrets that were surrounding Cinder. Although this really didn't affect how I felt about the book and I still found it to be really entertaining and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Overall, I really enjoyed this novel. It was a really wonderful and exciting twist on a well known fairytale. I cannot wait for the second book!

Stacking the Shelves #2
This is a blog hop that is hosted by Tynas Reviews. I went shopping this weekend, and I only picked up two books. I have heard nothing but good things about both of these books so I decided to pick them up.
The first book that I picked up is Unwind by Neal Shusterman. It was through the booktube community that I heard about this book, and along with GoodReads. I had been wanting to pick this up for quite some time.
I only just recently heard about this book and it sounded like something that I would really enjoy. It also got pretty decent ratings and a lot of people seemed to really enjoy it, so I picked it up.

Review: This was my second Libba Bray book. This is a book my sister had picked up one day at the bookstore, and I thought I would give it a go, and I'm so glad that I did! I managed to get through the 578 in almost no time, the storyline was wonderful and it keeps you reading. It didn't feel like almost 600 pages at all! As what I found with A Great and Terrible Beauty, I had not really read anything quite like this before. This book deals a lot with the occult, which I find really interested.
The story being set in New York City in 1926 is great! The 1920s are such an interesting time period, and Bray has done such a fantastic job in recreating it, it really felt as though the reader were part of it. As well, you can definitely tell that Bray did her research, and she did it well!
All of the characters were really well written, there really wasn't any that I wasn't too fond of. I especially enjoyed Evie's character. I loved her sense of humour, and I really enjoyed her whole attitude about everything. I found that her character really allowed for the reader to get a sense of the time period. Overall though, I found that all of the characters were really well developed and their backstories were all incorporated and gave so much more depth to the story.
There were a lot of plot twists in this book. I found myself a lot of the time really thinking about things and trying to figure out all of the twists the book had. There were also a number of plot elements that I did not see coming at all, which was great.
Overall I throughly enjoyed this book, and its something that I would definitely recommend, and its worth the read!

I have been wanting this book for a while. There were several times when I had the book in my hands, and ended up deciding on picking up something else. This book has been on my wishlist for quite a while now.
I have heard and read so many lovely reviews about this book, and it just keeps making me want to pick this up more and more. With Christmas just around the corner, I think I will be picking this up sometime soon!

Amy and Roger's Epic Detour--Review

Review: I had been wanting to read this book for quite some time. Let me just say I'm so glad that I finally got around to it! I'm not sure what it is about roadtrip novels, I think it has something to do with the fact that I would love to go on a roadtrip one day, but I definitely loved this one, and its safe to say that it is one of my favourite books.
I really like that Amy's mother gave her a travel scrapbook, and that she made use of it. I think that made a lot of the places. I also liked that we were given a playlist of the songs that Amy and Roger listened to during their trip.
Apart from the roadtrip aspect, I really loved the way that the story was written. We know that Amy is really struggling with her father's death and is having hard time dealing with it. I also liked the way that the story used flashbacks to give much more of a background to Amy's family and all of the tragedies and struggles that they have had to deal with.
I especially enjoyed her relationship with Roger, and it was definitely not something that I was expecting to see from the beginning of the book. There is just something about Roger that made me fall in love with him. He's just a little bit nerdy, courteous and really loves history. When I first started this book, I will admit that I thought that there was going to be an instant romance that was sparked between Amy and Roger. I'm happy to say that it was not at all what I was expecting.
Overall, I LOVED this book. Its a fairly quick read. Its the perfect mix of grief and how to come to terms with it, but more importantly its about a growing friendship.

Review: I was not planning on doing a review for this book for the simple fact that I was so late in getting to it, that I figured just about everyone has already read it. However, I ended up loving it so much, that I thought, what's one more review.
The main reason that I decided to pick up this book was because my sister kept telling me that I wasn't going to like it, and it wasn't my sort of thing. She had read it a few years ago, told me about it, but I hadn't ever gotten around to reading it. So, a few weeks ago, I had gone to Costco with my parents, and they had the boxset on sale for $30, so I picked it up. Also, I really wanted to read it before I watched the movie (I'm weird like that).
I knew what the book was about when I was getting into it, however, it completely surpassed any expectations that I had about it. I'm also just going to say that this was not a book that I would have just picked up on my own to read. I have give my sister some credit, if it wasn't for her constantly saying that I wasn't going to enjoy it, then I never would have tried. Initially, I had a bit of a hard time getting into the story based on the first few chapters, but I understand that a set-up is necessary. After that though I was completely hooked! I really loved the world that Collins has created, and in a lot of ways it has really made me think about a lot of issues that we're facing today.
The entire plot was completely unique and I really liked being submerged into the world of Panem. It was a really thrilling read, and it kept me up at night, I couldn't seem to put the book down. Along with the great plot are great characters. I really enjoyed Effie Trinket and Cinna, of course I really enjoyed Peeta and Katniss as well, and I'm really curious to see what happens with them in the next two books!
I feel a bit silly for being so behind on getting to these books, but better late than never. I'm willing to bet that most people have read the trilogy by this point, but if haven't yet, I strongly recommend that you pick it up as it is definitely a must read!
